Steelheads Edge 67's, Ex-Major Kuptsov, In Shootout

Ex-Mississauga forward Sergey Kuptsov had a goal and an assist against his old team, but it wasn’t enough as the Steelheads defeated the Ottawa 67’s 5-4 in the shootout on Sunday afternoon.

67's edge Fronts 5-4 in shootout victory


Joseph Blandisi scored in the third round of the shootout to lift the Ottawa 67's to a 5-4 victory over the Kingston Frontenacs Friday night snapping Ottawa's 6-game losing skid.


Coming off a disappointing 11-1 loss against the London Knights yesterday, the 67's jumped out to a commanding 3-goal lead early in the second period.  Sean Callahan got the ball rolling with his second goal of the year 3:41 into the opening frame  Midway through the first period, Nevin Guy's quick wrist shot beat goaltender Mike Morrison glove side.

It was a battle between first and the worst at Scotiabank Place tonight.  With a whopping 46 points separating these two teams in the Ontario Hockey League standings, one could only predict the outcome.

Attack Defeat 67's In Janes & Ceci's Return to Ottawa

Cody Ceci had an assist in his return to Ottawa, while Steven Janes was held off the score sheet as the Owen Sound Attack defeated the 67’s 3-2 in front of over 10,000 fans on Sunday afternoon.

67’s can’t weather the Storm, fall 6-0 to Guelph


Clint Windsor made 47 saves, but it wasn’t enough as the Guelph Storm skated to an easy 6-0 win over the hometown Ottawa 67’s.  It was Tanner Richard and Scott Kosmachuk who stole the show each tallying 3 points in front of a crowd of 5,228.

Knights slam 67's 10-5



It was a wild one at the Budweiser Gardens Friday night.  Max Domi had 2 goals and 3 assists to lead his London Knights to a 10-5 romping of the Ottawa 67’s in front of a hometown crowd of 9,046.

The Revolving Door of Goaltenders in 2012-13

While previewing the 2012-13 season back in August, I had assumed that the Ottawa 67’s would attempt to let Michael Nishi and Keegan Wilson share the crease throughout the year.  Not only was that proven wrong very early, a recent turn of events had those two goalies fighting for a spot once again, although this time not a starter’s position, nor a position in the Nation’s Capital.

The 10-Fight Rule; How Has It Affected the 67's?

At the start of the 2012-13 season, the Ontario Hockey League made a controversial decision to limit fights.  After ten fights from one combatant, not counting fights instigated by others, suspensions would start to be handed out, and the team would be punished if a player continually fought after reaching ten.

The group of Ottawa 67's that will finish the 2012-13 season hit the ice with a series of new bodies on Wednesday night, and although the fresh faces didn't look out of place in the lineup, they would fall to an undermanned Oshawa Generals team by a score of 2-0.

Giftopoulos traded to Windsor

The Ottawa 67's have made their fourth trade in as many days ahead of Thursday's OHL trade deadline, in sell mode again as they send Remy Giftopoulos to the Windsor Spitfires.

67's Acquire Petaccio

Four days ago, Mark Petaccio was opening the scoring at Scotiabank Place for his Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds en route to a 4-1 win over the Ottawa 67's.  Today, he becomes the newest member of the Barberpoles.

The rebuild is in full swing for the Ottawa 67's, dealing co-Captain Cody Ceci and Steven Janes to the Owen Sound Attack, acquiring Joseph Blandisi and Jake Middleton in return.

Hall's three point night sinks 67's, Colts win 5-2



With the likes of Mark Scheifele and Anthony Camara out of the lineup due to the 2013 World Junior Championships in Russia, veteran forward Zach Hall stepped up to the plate with a three point night to lead his Barrie Colts to a 5-2 victory over the visiting Ottawa 67’s.

As the Ottawa 67’s take the week before the trade deadline to kickstart their rebuild, a key part of that rebuild will re-join them tonight in Barrie as 2012 first-round pick Dante Salituro comes back from the IIHF’s World Under-17 tournament.

Graovac Traded to Belleville

The Ottawa 67’s have made the first big splash in the trade market ahead of the OHL’s trade deadline, sending Tyler Graovac to the Belleville Bulls for Sergey Kuptsov, a 2014 second-round pick, a 2015 third-round pick, and a 2014 seventh-round pick if Kuptsov doesn’t return to the 67’s as a 19-year old.

Greyhounds Now-Healthy Defence Shuts Down 67's

On a day where Canada’s National Junior under-20 team was eliminated by the USA, the Ottawa 67’s lost a nearly identical game by a score of 4-1 to Sault Ste. Marie.  Similar to the Canada-USA morning game, Ottawa allowed the first four goals of the game before getting on the board.
