Gutsy effort as the 67’s fall 2-1 to the Greyhounds in the shootout

With the 3rd most saves so far this season, Philippe Trudeau is used to being peppered with shots.  And tonight was no different.  Trudeau stopped 37 of 38 shots fired his way but it wasn’t enough as his Ottawa 67’s fell 2-1 in the shootout to the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds tonight.

Trudeau and Matt Murray put on a goaltending clinic throughout the game.  While not tested nearly as much, Murray had to be sharp at times and kept his team in the game.

67's School Bulls 9-4 On A Tuesday Morning

A late first period collision with Joseph Blandisi and Belleville’s Charlie Graham ended up being a game-changer, as the 67’s shelled backup Jason Da Silva for seven goals en route to a 9-4 win on Tuesday morning in their annual School Day Game.

GAME DAY: Belleville Bulls @ Ottawa 67's

On Tuesday morning, the Ottawa 67’s host the Belleville Bulls for the second time this season during their annual school kids’ game.  The club expects to play in front of 13,000 screaming fans from local elementary schools.  This will create for a great atmosphere much like the home opener between these two same teams.

Taylor Fielding scored a pair of goals last game.

The Ottawa 67’s defeated the Belleville Bulls by a score of 5-4 in front of a home crowd of 12,379.  Travis Konecny had two assists and showcased his talents for the first time in the regular season.  He was awarded with the first star of the game.  The team looked very good and much more positive from last season.  But somewhere down the road, things started to change.

Frontenacs crush 67’s 8-0

The Ottawa 67’s were unable to stop their losing skid, falling 8-0 to the Kingston Frontenacs on Sunday afternoon.  The Frontenacs lead the season series 3-0-0-0 and have outscored them 17-5.

Struggling as of late, with only two wins in their last 11 games, the Frontenacs were desperate for a win.  Building off momentum from their loss against the London Knights, they played a complete game, worked hard as a team and were rewarded for their efforts.

“Certainly when you’re in a slump like we have been lately, you’ve just got to put pucks on net and go to the net.  You’re going to need those dirty ones once and a while and we just kept building on that and it was great,” said Spencer Watson who had a 4 point night and named the first star.

67’s get edged by the Gens 3-2 in heartbreaking overtime loss

Michael Dal Colle scored with 1:50 left in the extra frame to give his Oshawa Generals a 3-2 victory over the visiting Ottawa 67’s.  The 2014 NHL draft hopeful scored his team leading 15th goal and his 7th point against Ottawa in just two games so far this season.

Just ten days ago today, the Generals rocked the 67’s by a score of 7-1 at Canadian Tire Centre.  After the first 20 minutes, it was starting to look like a repeat.  The 67’s came out flat in the first period and found themselves chasing another early lead.  With Brett Gustavsen off in the box for a questionable tripping call, Flyers prospect, Scott Laughton wired a wrist shot from the point beating Philppe Trudeau on the glove side.

GAME DAY: Knights @ 67's

The 67’s are back in action tonight hosting an always-exciting London Knights squad who are 4-0-0-1 in their last 5 games.

Stuck on a 3-game losing streak, the 67’s are 3-6-0-1 in their last 10 games.  They are coming off a dissappointing 4-3 shootout loss against the Kitchener Rangers on Sunday afternoon (game review here: http://ottawa67s.blogspot.ca/2013/11/rangers-shoot-down-67s-4-3-in-shootout.html).  The 67’s were lucky to get a point out of the game after a couple bad periods of play leaving them with a lot to work on in practice this past week.

Knights Rookie Caps Comeback, 67's Drop 5-3 Decision

On a night where the top two rookie scorers in the OHL went head-to-head, it was London Knights top first-year Mitch Marner who got the upper hand, scoring the winning goal in a 67’s third period collapse, as the Knights won 5-3 Thursday.

Rangers shoot down 67's 4-3 in the shootout

Justin Bailey scored in the 3rd round of the shootout as the Kitchener Rangers edged the Ottawa 67’s 4-3 on Sunday afternoon to snap an 8 game losing streak.  Bailey, a Buffalo Sabres’ draft pick, also scored the Rangers second goal to tie the game.

Game Day: Rangers @ 67's

The Ottawa 67’s are back in action this afternoon to take on the Kitchener Rangers.  The 67’s are coming off a 7-3 loss to the Saginaw Spirit and will look to build off their great second period where they scored 3 goals to get back in the game.  The 67’s will need to play more consistently and more of a team to pull off wins going forward.

The Kitchener Rangers are coming off a disappointing 6-5 shootout loss to the Kingston Frontenacs on Friday night.  The Rangers were down 4-0 in the first battled back and took the lead late in the third.  The Frontenacs tied it up late and forced overtime.  It took 8 rounds to decide the winner.  2014 NHL draft prospect, Ryan MacInnis had 3 assists on the night while rookie netminder Matthew Greenfield only allowed one goal in regulation and one goal in the shootout after coming in to relieve Jordan DeKort in the first.

Generals trouce 67's in 7-1 win

The name Cassels usually brings out good memories amongst long-time 67’s fans, but that wasn’t the case tonight.  Cole Cassels, son of 67’s great Andrew Cassels, scored four times as his Oshawa Generals dominated the Ottawa 67’s in a 7-1 win Tuesday night extending their win streak to 5 games.
