67's lose second straight on the road, 5-2 to the Greyhounds

The Ottawa 67’s squandered 3 goals in the final 10 minutes losing 5-2 to the Greyhounds in Sault Ste Marie tonight.

Last night’s game in North Bay proved to be more costly than just a tough overtime loss for the 67’s. According to the team, captain and leading scorer Travis Konecny “tweeked something” late in the game which cause him to sit out tonight in Sault Ste Marie.

67's drop a 3-2 OT decision to the Battalion

It was a ‘too many men on the ice’ bench minor that led to the Ottawa 67’s demise in North Bay on Thursday night. Mountain native Zach Poirier scored on the power play midway through the extra frame to give his Battalion a 3-2 victory and handing the 67’s their 1st OT loss of the season.

67's weekend preview: Oct 29th to Nov 1st

The 67’s are coming off a successful week where they took 4 of a possible 6 points and improving their record to 8-5-0-0. After opening the season with 3 straight losses, the 67’s have won 8 of their last 10 games and look to challenge for first in the Eastern Conference only 4 points back of the Kingston Frontenacs.

Should The 67's Ever Consider Trading Travis Konecny?

Contending windows can make junior hockey teams do crazy things.

If nothing else, the OHL has prohibited teams from giving away future first round picks to save them from themselves, but the league has too much turnover to fully avoid an aggressive buyer market.

Lazarev Starts Shaky, Shuts Down Petes In 4-1 Win

There aren't any pictures on the scoresheet, which is probably best for Leo Lazarev as he turned aside 34 shots in a 4-1 win over Peterborough on Sunday despite struggling to corral the puck early on.

67's Hope To Pull Away In East, Out-Possess and Beat Oshawa

The Ottawa 67's cashed in two points on Friday night that they're hoping will help distance themselves from the non-home ice advantage teams in the East, a 4-2 win over Oshawa to pull two points ahead of the Generals for sole possession of third.

67’s struggle to find identity, lose 5-2 to Steelheads

The word ‘identity’ has come up a lot for the Ottawa 67’s early this season. It appeared that the team finally found their identity when they posted 6 wins in their last 7 games including 5 straight after starting the season 0-3. But after tonight, it looked like they were back to square one.

Barron Tries Rounding Out Top-Six, 67's Split South of the Border

Breaking into an OHL team's top-six as a 17-year old can't be easy, especially on a team front-loaded on depth chart that's tipped considerably in favour of the forwards, but putting up a hattrick should help do the trick.

67's Play To Strengths, Win With Three Forwards In 3-on-3 OT

It took some breaking of preconceived opinions to do so, but the Ottawa 67's were able to pick up their first overtime win in the 3-on-3 era, their fifth consecutive win on the year.

67's get revenge on Colts for home opener loss

The 67’s shut out the Colts on the road in Barrie Saturday night, taking the game by a score of 4-0.

Stepan Falkovsky took third star of the game after scoring the 67’s first goal, and assisting on the last, scored by Sam Studnicka.

The game marked Ottawa’s third win in a row, putting them at 3-3-0 so far this season.

The 67’s fell 4-0 to the Colts in their Sept. 27 home opener, a game that frustrated head coach Jeff Brown, who said at the time, the team needed to play a less selfish game.

The message seems to have been heard by the 67’s who have outscored their opponents 13-3 in the last three games.

Leo Lazarev earned top star with his first shut out of the season after stopping all 35 of the Colt’s shots, including 19 in the first period.

The lone goal in the opening frame came with just 17 seconds left when Falkovsky beat Mackenzie Blackwood, with assists going to Travis Barron and Jake Middleton.

Ottawa held the one-goal lead until just under two minutes into the third period when Nathan Todd made it 2-0 on a shot from Travis Konecny.

Dante Salituro also took home a point on the third goal for the 67's after the puck snuck past Blackwood as players scrambled in front of the net.

Ottawa now sits fifth in the Eastern Conference.

The 67’s will face off against the Attack in Owen Sound Sunday at 2pm. The game will air on Rogers 22 in Ottawa.

Ottawa’s next home game will be played at TD Arena on Wednesday, Oct. 21 against the Mississauga Steelheads.

Overagers shine in 67's 5-1 win over Bulldogs

“Selfish play and pouting because you can’t score – well, nobody feels sorry for you.”
That was one of Jeff Brown’s many comments calling out the veteran leadership following the team’s 0-3-0-0 start to the season. It’s evident that his comments struck a chord with the team. With the help of their veterans, the Ottawa 67’s came out of the gate strong beating the Hamilton Bulldogs by a score of 5-1 and securing their first win of the regular season.

Exceeding the overage limit; a recipe for disaster

It wouldn’t be far off to suggest that the Erie Otters were put on the map by Connor McDavid, a generational talent who could put a franchise’ rocky past in the rearview.

What people tend to forget is the embarrassing 10-win season that landed Erie the top pick, a team that shuffled through seven different goalies and five overagers, thinking they were a team that could squeak into the playoffs.

One of their biggest mistakes might be replicated this year in two Eastern Conference cities.
