Season Ticket Holder Pick-up Night

Tonight was the Ottawa 67's Ticket Pick Up night for season seat holders.  It was a very good turnout and from the discussions I had, fans are looking forward to a strong season from a team that includes 6 players who have been drafted into the NHL and another 4 who were invited to NHL camps.

Some tidbits:
  • For those who think this is important, Golden Palace eggrolls will be available at the Civic Centre this season.  With all the hype around town, I just may have to try one.
  • The club continues to bring new game-day entertainment features - they've added a house band!
  • Petr Mrazek and Marc-Anthony Zanetti are on their way back from their respective NHL camps and will be in the line-up on Friday.  Steven Janes returned earlier and played in Friday's pre-season game.
  • As NHL teams start whittling their camps down to season roster size, more players could be returning this week.
  • The players were wearing the new third jersey.  Given that these jerseys can only be worn 10 times during the season, it's likely that we'll see these more in the last half of the season than in the first half.
After team introductions by Dave "The Voice" Schrieber, Coach and GM Chris Byrne introduced team management.  No changes there other than to note that, as previously announced, Chris Byrne has taken over GM duties but Brian Kilrea is still around and involved with the club - notably as a scout.  I had a chance to chat with him on the weekend and he's looking forward to scouting.

And then it was time for the fans to chat with the players and get autographs.

Hope to see all of you at the home opener on Friday!
