Prince Named OHL Player Of The Week

By Alex Quevillon

Despite missing a couple of weeks with a shoulder injury, Shane Prince hasn’t missed a step.  On Monday, Prince, drafted 61st overall by the Ottawa Senators in the NHL Entry Draft this past summer, was named OHL player of the week.

In Thursday’s 6-5 overtime win over the Peterborough Petes, Prince had a career-high four assists. The next night, he assisted on all three regulation goals in a 4-3 shootout win against Mississauga.

None of his seven assists were secondary assists, either. The native of Spencerport, New York directly set up all seven goals.

Prince beat out Barrie Colts center Mark Scheifele, Owen Sound Attack center Gemel Smith, and Sarnia Sting goaltender Brandon Maxwell for the honour.

The 67’s next game is against the Belleville Bulls tomorrow night. In their first meeting of the season, a 2-1 Ottawa win on opening night, Prince had the first goal of the night before suffering his shoulder injury.
