67's Acquire 'New' Brendan Bell

Ten years ago marked the last time an Ottawa 67 was selected to play for Team Canada at the World Junior Under-20 Hockey Championships, and while CHL fans get prepared for the 2013 edition of this tournament, it’s only fitting that the 67’s would acquire the namesake of their last Canadian representative on the world stage.

On Monday afternoon, Ottawa sent a third round draft choice in 2013 to Barrie for Brendan Bell; no relation to the Brendan Bell who suited up in barberpoles from 1999 to 2003.

Bell, 18, comes to Ottawa with 16 points in 82 OHL games.  His presence will be felt by way of his physical play.  He has racked up 64 penalty minutes in two years as a Colt.  In his first game against the 67’s, Bell dropped the gloves with new teammate Michal Cajkovsky.

Bell, a forward unlike the former, will likely join the team for their southern road trip this weekend.
