Trudeau Set To Make First OHL Start Tonight With Ottawa

Overage goaltender Philippe Trudeau will make his debut with the 67’s tonight after being claimed by the team on Monday.

After playing last season with Cape Breton and Val D’Or of the QMJHL, Trudeau was cut loose by the Foreurs and has been practicing with the team since the beginning of the week.

As a result, goaltender Clint Windsor has been sent home by the team to await a deal.

Should he stay in Ontario, Windsor’s fifth OHL team in four seasons will likely be in the Western Conference.

Guelph, Windsor and Sarnia all have an open overage spot and could use a netminder.

The netminder, acquired last November, lost 4-1 to Kingston in the preseason before standing on his head in a 4-1 win over Gatineau later in the week.

It’s believed that hometown netminder Jacob Blair will be the full-time starter, tonight’s game notwithstanding.
