67s In The News

Taking a look at the articles on last night’s game vs the Petes. From SLAM! Sports: Petes stay hot. From the Ottawa Citizen: Petes keep distance on 67's.

"Whatever we did well (Friday) night, we left in Ottawa," 67's coach and general manager Brian Kilrea said by telephone. "It was a four-point game, but we were outplayed from start to finish."

From the Ottawa Sun: Beljo comes through for Petes' sake.

"It was awful from start to finish," said 67's coach and GM Brian Kilrea.

"I guess we had too many guys out celebrating (Friday's 3-2 win over Erie)."

Lovely. Shouldn’t the coaching staff start implementing stricter curfews then? These are young boys, after all . . .

And a few interesting takes from some Noofers:

5 Wants the Cup: Ottawa played a very undisciplined game, spending much of the night trying to get at Kaleta (by my count at least 4 of the PP's were a result of 67's players trying to inflict pain on him). Staubitz looked like the same guy who came into the PMC a month ago with SSM (ie. more of a goon than anything else). Trades to date don't seem to have changed anything for Ottawa at this point. Mancari and Bonello both practically invisible. Killer must be going out of his mind watching this bunch. He was so ticked that he went directly from the ice to the bus where local newspaper guy had to chase him down to get the post-game comments.

majors hockeybeats: Last night, I was thinking that with the play of the newly acquired players combined with the return of Kaspar and Petruzalek, the 67s should be about to make a move up the standings. [. . .] Apparently, they haven't changed the fact that they suck on the road. What a difference.

And again 5 Wants the Cup: Something just isn't right with the 67's. Petes have beaten them 3 of the 4 games played, with the 4th one being a tie. Killer doesn't usually let things like this happen. The entire group seemed totally disinterested tonight, other than taking a lot of what could best be described as dumb penalties (a couple of which occurred while the 67's were on the PP themselves). Bonello proves the Petes' right once again, that they were wise to let him go. The 2 Czechs never saw their own goalie all night, refusing to back-check. I can't help but think that Killer must be squirming on the bus tonight, trying to decide how to proceed on Monday.

selke: I have never seen Killer SCREAM the way he was last night..he was some ticked off!

And so on and so forth . . .

If these guys can't play two games in a row because they aren't conditioned enough/in shape, well CHANGE SOMETHING WITH THE TRAINING REGIMEN!!! If they are staying out too late, partying or whatever, IMPLEMENT STRICTOR CURFEWS OR PENALTIES!!! Do something. Obviously, there are a core of guys remaining (after all the trades so far) that are continuing this lassez-faire attitude. Does the coaching staff have to gut the entire team in order to get these guys to change their bad habits? I guess so.
