The Ontario Hockey League today announced the schedule of games for the 2008-09 season.
The 2008-09 season kicks off on Wednesday September 17 in Saginaw where the Spirit
will host the London Knights. The 680 game regular season concludes 179 days later
on March 15.
The Kitchener Rangers begin defence of their title at home against the Plymouth Whalers on September 19. They meet the Belleville Bulls at home on October 17 in a rematch of last May's Rogers OHL Championship Series, which the Rangers won in seven games.
The 2009 OHL Playoffs will open on March 19 and the 2009 OHL Champions, along with the champions from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and the Western Hockey League, will join the Rimouski Oceanic in the 2009 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Rimouski, PQ from May 15-24.
The Ontario Hockey League continues the tradition of being primarily a weekend league in order to accommodate the student athlete with 89% of games scheduled between Thursday and Sunday. Friday is the busiest night during the season with 216 games scheduled.
